Our
history

Leigh Judo Club was founded in 2013 after the 2012 London Olympic games to bring judo to the Leigh community. With the help of Sport England funding, the club quickly became the premier judo club in the area. Within the first year, it was nominated for Club of the Year, and the founder and head coach won Sports Coach of the Year.

The club saw unprecedented growth, leading to the search for a new home, which was found in a disused youth center that was successfully transformed into a state-of-the-art community facility. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, the club’s dedicated team ensured that the legacy and plans would be come to fruition.
