Kano Kids

Build confidence. Learn Judo. Have Fun.

Kano Kids is a fun introduction to judo for children aged 4 to 6. Through games, movement and simple judo activities, children develop coordination, balance, confidence and the ability to listen, follow instructions and work with others.
Our sessions give young children the chance to explore something new in a friendly and supportive environment, helping them become comfortable in a new setting while having fun and making their first steps into sport and martial arts.

Benefits of judo

Judo gives children much more than the ability to throw and grapple. Through training, they develop physical skills, confidence and self-discipline while learning how to work with others, handle challenges and keep improving. These benefits develop naturally through the way judo is taught, practised and enjoyed.

Trying new activities and completing small challenges helps children become more confident and independent.

Games and judo activities develop balance, coordination, agility and body awareness.

Children learn to listen, follow simple instructions and stay engaged through fun, active games.

Working with other children helps develop cooperation, patience and respect.

At this age, enjoyment comes first. We use games and activities to make learning judo something children look forward to.

Children learn and play together, creating opportunities to make friends and feel part of the group.

A positive first step

For many children, Kano Kids is their first experience of a structured sports class without a parent beside them. We keep the sessions active, playful and encouraging, helping children become comfortable with their surroundings while gradually developing the skills they need to participate.

There is no pressure to be good at judo. The aim is to give children a positive first experience of martial arts, build confidence through simple challenges and, most importantly, make sure they enjoy coming back.

Our

Coaching

Our expert coaching team

Young children need a different approach to older juniors. Our coaches use simple instructions, games, repetition and encouragement to keep children engaged while helping them learn the foundations of movement and judo.

We understand that every four, five and six-year-old develops differently. Some will jump straight in, while others need a little more time to settle. Our coaches give each child the space and encouragement they need to become comfortable, participate and enjoy their time on the mat.

A great place to train

Starting a new activity can be a big step for a young child, so the environment matters. Our purpose-built facilities at Lowton Community Hub provide a clean, welcoming and dedicated space where children can learn, play and develop their confidence on the mat.

My son & I, we train at the Judo Club for 1 year now. Friendly & safe environment. Luke is a knowledgeable & an outstanding coach. My son is learning respect & discipline, while he is having a lot of fun at the same time. The perseverance, love & joy of learning is reflected in the children taking part in training. All judo team (Luke, Tom, Vicki & Rob) are professional coaches & they have a great ability to bring out the best in children of all levels & abilities. They interact well with children of all ages. I appreciated the focus on skill, but even more so on character - kindness & sportsmanship. Every training is a very positive experience for me & my son. I would encourage anyone, regardless of age or physical ability to give it a try, & I can think of no better group of people to pursue this Judo Club in Lowton. Thank you Aga & Brad.

My daughter has been here nearly 5 years now and still absolutely loves it. She has made life-long friends and it has also made made her quietly confident, given her manners and respect. Luke takes no messing around be it from the kids or the adults and as such you can see the kids develop into young adults with great values. This is not only a judo club. It is an extended family where everybody knows everybody and welcomes new people with open arms There is also activities outside of judo for the kids and adults. Camping. Cinema bowling trampolining and lots more. come along. You won't be disappointed.
